Marjorie Taylor Greene has made an absolutely bonkers comparison between Donald Trump, Jesus, and Nelson Mandela as the former US President was arrested over 34 felony charges.

Yep, you read that correctly.

The American lawmaker and right-wing conspiracy theorist drew the comparison on Tuesday (April 4) while waiting for the 45th President of the United States to be booked and arraigned in New York City.

She made her comments during an interview with Right Side Broadcasting Network, while she was sitting in the back seat of an SUV.

"President Trump is joining some of the most incredible people in history in being arrested today," Taylor Greene said.

Alt-right conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor-Greene celebrates the arrest of twice-impeached former President Donald Trump, likening him to Nelson Mandela and Jesus Christ:

"Nelson Mandela was arrested, served time in prison. Jesus was arrested and murdered by the Roman government."

Right.

So she's literally compared Trump to an apartheid activist who stood up for human rights and the actual Son of God.

Yikes.

Later, Taylor Greene called on people to give Trump their thoughts and prayers.

"Pray for President Trump. Pray for our country. This is awful," she wrote on Twitter.

Pray for President Trump.
Pray for our country.
This is awful.

— Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸 (@RepMTG) April 4, 2023

Because thoughts and prayers have been doing wonders for America's gun crisis.

Anyway, Taylor Greene's words come after Trump was arrested for allegedly paying a porn star thousands of dollars in hush money.

For years, the Manhattan District Attorney's office has been investigating allegations that the former President of the United States had an affair with Stormy Daniels - real name Stephanie Gregory Clifford.

It's alleged that Trump paid Daniels USD$130,000 (£114,000) in 2016, in order to keep her quiet about the whole thing during his presidential campaign.

And in an historic move, the grand jury in New York voted to indict the 76-year-old last week.

The specific crimes the ex-POTUS has been charged with are currently under seal, and so have not been made available to the public.

Trump had previously taken to his Truth Social platform to react to the allegations, saying it was a sham.

In a post to the channel, he claimed that 'illegal leaks' from the Manhattan district attorney’s office suggested that: "The far and away leading Republican candidate and former President of the United States of America will be arrested on Tuesday of next week."

As well as his alleged affair with Daniels, the 45th US president is also being looked into for his role in the 6 January riots at the US Capitol back in 2021, and alleged interference of his 2020 election loss in Georgia.

Despite the numerous allegations made against him, however, it appears as though Trump plans on continuing with his campaign to become president for a second time in 2024.
