Man praised for taking terminally ill friend's virginity

He took to Reddit to explain what happened

A man has been praised online after taking his friend's virginity - a milestone that was particularly poignant as it had been her dying wish.

Taking to the Reddit TrueOffMyChest forum, a user explained how he decided to sleep with a friend who had terminal cancer, and admitted there's since been a part of him left wondering if he did the wrong thing.

In the post, which was shared two years ago, he explained how the woman had been his friend of six years.

"Her cancer came back aggressively, she told us she doesn’t want to go through chemo again so she planned to enjoy the time she had left," he recalled.

"Before that she was also kind of a homebody who was only close to a small group of friends which was us.

"One night when we were all drinking she admitted to me she was still a virgin but she doesn’t want to lose it to just any stranger.

"At least somebody she trusts before she goes.

The man took to Reddit to get the admission off his chest.

"That person was me. She didn’t force me to do anything I didn’t want to, she asked but was willing to drop it and pretend it never happened if I decided no.

"We decided to make it extra special. Got a nice hotel room, got those fake candles all over the room to make it more 'romantic'."

The Reddit user continued: "Was the first time I ever had sex with someone I loved but wasn’t in love with if that makes sense.

"It was still a very intense experience. Not in a bad way. There was still lots of emotions.

"Even though she seemed so happy she got to lose her virginity to someone she trusts part of me wonders if I did take advantage. If I was wrong for saying yes.

"It’s just hard because I miss her so much. But I’m still glad at least I got to give her something before she left."

And while Reddit is usually the home of fierce debate, this story seemed to see most people agreeing that he had done the right thing.

"This is a beautiful beautiful story man," one person commented.

"You did so right by her. I’m sorry for your loss, she seemed like an amazing woman."

Someone else said: "You did 100% what was right. You made her dying wish come true, not because you were in love but because you loved her."

A third wrote: "This story made me tear up in public. Trying not to ugly sob lol. Thank you for doing that for her."

A fourth added: "I think you did a wonderful thing. She wanted to experience something with someone she cared about and that’s exactly what you did."

The man felt touched by people's reaction, adding in an edit to his original post: "I just want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your beautiful words and support.

"Today has been such a hard day but you have all made me feel lighter."
