Robb Elementary will be torn down in the wake of the shooting that shocked the US and the world.

Nineteen children from the same fourth-grade class all died in the attack in Uvalde, Texas. Two teachers were also killed.

The close-knit community was left reeling following the attack, with the city council electing to tear the school down in the wake of the brutal killings.

City of Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin confirmed the demolition, according to Sky News.

However, McLaughlin added that there is no timeline for the school to be torn down yet.

The Uvalde massacre was the deadliest shooting at an American school since Sandy Hook, which killed 26.

The Texas shooting has led to a broader conversation about gun violence in America.

Connecticut's Senator Chris Murphy, formerly a representative from a district that included Sandy Hook Elementary School, gave a powerful speech to the Senate floor on May 25, demanding gun law reform.

He said: "Find a path forward here. Work with us to find a way to pass laws that make this less likely.

"I understand my Republican colleagues may not agree to everything I support, but there is a common denominator we can find.”

While speaking at the White House, President Joe Biden also put pressure on Congress to change the country’s gun laws.

He said: "I am sick and tired of it. We have to act. Don't tell me we can't have an impact on this carnage."
