We know a good internet moment when we see one, and we reckon this clip of Chris Pine at the Venice Film Festival will be used for years to come to articulate all those ‘what the f**k is happening’ moments life throws our way.

The internet is losing it over the facial expression Pine pulled on Monday (5 September) when his Don’t Worry Darling co-star Harry Styles gave a slightly bonkers answer to a journalist’s question.

As Styles rambled on about ‘liking the film because it feels like a movie’ (more on that later), Pine stared blankly into the void as though he was trying to leave his own body.

Watch the clip below:

Styles had been asked to talk about his new film, to which he replied: “You know, my favourite thing about the movie is, like, it feels like a movie. It feels like a real, like, you know, go to the theatre film, movie. The reason why you go to watch something on the big screen.”

The words ‘come again?’ clearly sprang to mind for everyone else on the planet, because the 18-second clip quickly went viral alongside a tweet that read: “You can almost see the screams catching in his throat.”

Said tweet has racked up thousands of comments and retweets, and you’ll find some of our favourite replies below.

“Poor Chris Pine looks like he'd rather be anywhere else on the planet,” noted one person, with another adding: “Everything about this clip is so painful.”

“I think he’s trying to do Morse code with his blinks telling people he needs help. Poor guy,” quipped someone else.

A fourth social media user added: “Dude’s fighting for his life,” while a fifth penned: “Someone needs to rescue this man.”

The actors were promoting Olivia Wilde’s latest directorial endeavour, which has been shrouded in rift rumours following reports Wilde and the film’s lead actor Florence Pugh had fallen out.

Earlier on Monday, Wilde actually addressed the hearsay after being asked: “Can you just clear the air and address whether there has been a falling out there and if so why, because it’s something that people are discussing?"

Wilde replied: "Florence is a force and we are so grateful that she is able to make it tonight despite being in production on Dune.

"I know as a director how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for a day so I’m very grateful to her and Denis Villeneuve for helping us – we’re really thrilled we’ll get to celebrate her work tonight."
