A recall of certain Chips Ahoy! goods has been issued by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over fears eating the snack could lead to choking.
Mondelez Global LLC and US regulators confirmed that there are certain impacted batches of Chips Ahoy! brookie products that could contain lumps of corn starch, which could become a choking risk in elderly and younger customers.
The notice read that the batches were made using ‘an incorrect mixing process that resulted in the formation of small corn starch clumps in the product', adding: “Due to the characteristics and size of the small starch clumps, the clump could constitute a choking hazard, particularly in special risk groups, such as young children and older individuals."
The FDA initially announced the Chips Ahoy! recall on December 24, 2025, after which it was expanded on December 30 to include one other best‑by date and two other Universal Product Codes of products that may also contain the corn starch clumps. The recall was then published by the FDA on February 4.

So far, there have been no reported injuries related to the recall, per the company, but those who have bought the above products have been advised to call Mondelez Global for more information at 1‑855‑535‑5948, and throw the product in the garbage.
"We are issuing this recall out of an abundance of caution," the FDA release stated, adding: "Consumers who have this product should not eat it."
Just last month the FDA recalled another product in the US, but this time, it was over its contamination by bacteria that can cause 'fatal infections'.
Chocolatier Spring & Mulberry’s organic bars sparked salmonella fears.
The foodborne bacteria kills around 420 Americans each year, according to the Center for Disease Control.
While it was initially warned that the 'Mint Leaf' chocolate bars were contaminated, an updated press release on January 14 confirmed that a further seven products were included in the recall.
