Elon Musk has dared Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to create a Twitter poll asking her followers whether they trust billionaires or politicians more.

The Tesla CEO tweeted on Thursday: “Who do you trust less? Real question,” asking his 95 million followers to pick one or the other.

Musk added: "@aoc [Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] I dare you to run the same poll with your followers.”

Ocasio-Cortez has yet to respond to Musk’s request, but many of his followers were quick to point out that they actually trusted Ocasio-Cortez more than him.

One wrote: “I trust AOC more than I trust you, Elon” while another echoed: “To be fair, @aoc is more trustworthy than most people. Period! Including you, @elonmusk.”

A third told Musk: “AOC vs you, I'd pick AOC.” A fourth social media user tweeted in response: “You do realise you’d lose if you made this directly a choice between you and her, right?”

A fifth added: “I hate to say it but she’s done more for her constituents and community than any billionaire has done for others. She fights for working families everyday while you try to accumulate more wealth and be socially relevant.”

Last month, Ocasio-Cortez appeared to get under Musk’s skin when she tweeted: “Tired of having to collectively stress about what explosion of hate crimes is happening because some billionaire with an ego problem unilaterally controls a massive communication platform.”

Assuming that the Democrat was talking about him, Musk responded: “Stop hitting on me, I'm really shy.”

Ocasio-Cortez fired back: “I was talking about Zuckerburg but OK,” before adding: “Like I said, ego problems.”

Then, speaking to Bloomberg in an article published 24 May, Ocasio-Cortez said she wanted to sell her Tesla.

The congresswoman explained she would ‘love to switch’ her electric vehicle for another, unionised brand, adding that at the time she purchased her car, it was the only model that could get her from New York to Washington on just a few charges.

Ocasio-Cortez explained: “At the time, it was the only EV that could get me from New York to Washington on like one, or one-and-a-half charges. I would love to switch.”

UNILAD has approached Musk and Ocasio-Cortez’s representatives for comment.

It follows reports that Musk’s net worth plummeted by $10 billion in a single day after claims of sexual misconduct against him emerged earlier this month.

Musk was worth approximately $212 billion on Thursday morning, 19 May, but by that evening his wealth had dropped to around $201 billion.
