The most generous billionaires in America have been revealed, and you might be surprised by who is and isn't on the list.

It's said that around a third of the world's billionaires live in the US. As of last year, America housed a whopping 900 billionaires and their wealth soared by 18 percent in 2025, Fortune reported.

Obvious names that spring to mind when you think of US-based billionaires are the likes of Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg — but where did they come on Forbes' new list of the most generous billionaires in America?

Well, Musk didn't make the top 10 of most generous billionaires. In fact, he didn't even make on Forbes' list of the top 25.

Per the outlet's calculations, of Musk's $780 billion net worth, he's thought to have only donated $500 million over the course of his lifetime, which makes up to be 0.06 percent of his overall worth.

This data was accurate as of January 16, but looking at today's figures (February 16) it's said that Musk currently has a net worth of almost $850 billion and remains to be the world's richest man.

So, if Musk didn't make the top 10 most generous billionaires in America, who did?

Well, according to Forbes, there are the people who are donating huge percentages of their net worth:

10) Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez Bezos

9) Sergey Brin

8) Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan

7) Steve and Connie Ballmer

6) Marilyn Simons and family

5) George Soros

4) Michael Bloomberg

3) MacKenzine Scott

2) Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates

1) Warren Buffett

Buffett is one of the most successful investors of all time and has long promised that he'd donate 99 percent of his wealth.

Now aged 95, he's so far given away over $68 billion ($6.3 billion of which was donated last year), meaning 32 percent of his net worth has so far been donated.

Buffett has previously discussed why he doesn't plan on leaving any of his money to his three children.

In a letter who wrote back in 2024, Buffett said (per CNBC): "I’ve never wished to create a dynasty or pursue any plan that extended beyond the children.

"I know the three well and trust them completely. Future generations are another matter. Who can foresee the priorities, intelligence and fidelity of successive generations to deal with the distribution of extraordinary wealth amid what may be a far different philanthropic landscape?"

Since Buffett's staggering amount of money may outlive his children, he's appointed three trustees to disperse of all his assets if his kids, Susie, Howie, and Peter, are not able to do so before they pass away.
