A dancer performing at Coachella festival was seen plummeting to the ground just minutes into a performance, before being carried away by paramedics.

The acrobatic dancer had been suspended from the air, twisting and contorting herself in a hanging curtain during a DJ set when she had the fall.

A video of the incident, taken from the crowd, shows the dancer twirling herself out of the curtain when she suddenly loses her grip and falls a few feet.

When she lands, between two music speakers, a crowd of people rush over to try and help, but she doesn't move.

Moments later, paramedics appear on the scene to carry her away.

The dancer's current condition remains unclear, but UNILAD has reached out to Coachella for an update on the incident and the performer's wellbeing.

Reporting on the incident, TMZ noted that it wasn't immediately obvious whether she suffered an injury while in the air, or just lost her grip of the aerial curtain.

They also report that the dancer appeared to blink at paramedics as she was carried away.

A young girl in the crowd was so shocked by the dancer's fall that she fainted.

The frightening incident occurred during weekend one of the California festival. Weekend two will go ahead next week with a whole new crowd of ticket-holders.

Headlining this year's festival were Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK, and Frank Ocean.

Other major acts across the weekend included Blink 182, Calvin Harris, Gorillaz, Rosalia, Burna Boy, Kali Uchis, and Blondie.

A number of surprise guests were brought out for different sets throughout the weekend.

The Weeknd, John Legend, Don Toliver, Future and 21 Savage, who appeared during Metro Boomin's set, Bad Bunny brought out Post Malone, Calvin Harris brought out Ellie Goulding, Labrinth brought out Billie Eilish, and Kali Uchis brought out Tyler the Creator.

While festival-goers appeared to enjoy the musical performances, they've been a little shocked by how badly their bank accounts have taken a hit, thanks to the cost of food and drink at the festival.

No word yet on the dancer's wellbeing.

One festival-goer Jackie Tanti took to TikTok to share just how much bang she got for her buck, telling her followers: "Just so you all know, the two coffees and these two burritos cost us $64. Capitalism really popped off today."

She does admit that the food and drink was 'actually pretty good', it's hard to imagine any coffee or burrito that's good enough to justify that price.
