Keith Urban finally addresses major Nicole Kidman rumor amid divorce announcement

Nicole Kidman filed for divorce from her husband of 19 years last month

Keith Urban has finally addressed that rumor about his changed song lyrics.

Urban has been married to Nicole Kidman for almost 20 years, and the famously lovey-dovey pair shocked the world in recent weeks by announcing that they're divorcing.

Reportedly, the celebrity couple separated at the start of summer, and then the Babygirl actress, Kidman, officially filed for divorce on September 30.

Kidman made the filing in the Tennessee court, citing 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for their break-up. According to sources close to the pair, Kidman didn't want to split from her long-time husband, BBC News reported.

The rumor mill soon went into overdrive regarding the reasoning for Kidman and Urban's split after fans noticed that the country music star changed the lyrics to one of his songs.

A video of Urban singing his song 'The Fighter' on his recent tour went viral — a track he's previously dedicated to his now-estranged wife.

The original lyrics go: "When they're tryna get to you, baby, I'll be the fighter."

However, Urban changed these at one of his shows to be: "When they're tryna’ get to you, Maggie I'll be your guitar player."

He was referring to his guitarist, Maggie Baugh, who also shared the video of the lyric change on her Instagram page, writing in the caption: "Did he just say that?"

Urban's decision to publicly change the lyrics to the song sparked some backlash at the time, with someone claiming it was 'so trashy to do this to a song inspired by his wife'.

But Urban has since insisted that lyric changes are normal and urged his fans to 'stop reading stuff into it'.

During the final stop of his High and Alive World Tour in Nashville, Urban spoke to the crowd before performing 'You'll Think Of Me', HELLO! reports.

"I’ve been covering it like this for a long time," he said. The singer proceeded to sing the lyrics of this particular track to be 'but I betcha' think about me' from 'but you’ll think of me'.

PEOPLE also reported that this isn't the first time Urban has switched out the lyrics of that song.

In 2017, when he was performing with Carrie Underwood at the CMT Music Awards, he sang the lyrics like this: "Carrie Underwood, I'm gonna be your fighter!"

'The Fighter' was written in the early days of Keith and Nicole's relationship, with the singer telling Billboard in 2017: "It’s all from a conversation my wife and I had early on in our relationship, that when things get tough, I need to hold her tighter and just try to take care of her."
