Chris Brown's reaction to staff after a malfunction saw him suspended over a stage 'hanging like SpongeBob' is being scrutinized online.

Look, many musicians have been there up on stage and something hasn't gone quite to plan during a life performance. Take Queen Bey herself having to be saved by a dancer after suffering a wardrobe malfunction or Miley Cyrus' top falling off on TV, but this moment with Chris Brown becoming a 'fairy' is truly something.

Not only did the 35-year-old musician take to the stage at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey as part of his 11:11 tour, but he also took to the air - attached to two wires.

Alas, during his performance of 2019 release 'Under the Influence' the singer ended up stranded in mid air, not looking like it was quite meant to be part of the performance and several videos of the incident were shared to TikTok by a user named @terriem89.

One video shows the singer literally upside down, trying his best to carry on performing anyway, before flipping back up and sitting with his back to the audience, trying to crane his neck and sing to them, rotating his arms seemingly to try spin over.

Despite him clearly being stuck, no one seems to come to his aid for a while until thankfully, another video shows three members of staff hauling a large ladder up onto the stage, helping detach Brown from the wires.

However, by the time he gets down to stage level again, Brown is not a very happy bunny.

The crowd cheers as he's back down facing them again, however, Brown is a bit preoccupied, looking like he's shouting after one of the members of staff in particular.

Later in the performance, he allegedly admitted to crowds, as per The Hollywood Reporter, that the situation did make him 'angry' but thankfully was able to make a joke about it all in the end.

And it's not taken long for people to flock to social media to weigh in on the blip and Brown's handling of it.

One TikToker said: "He handled it SO professionally."

"He mad as hell," another added.

A third commented: "They had that man stuck in the air like SpongeBob in that wizard costume."

"So he was up there hanging like SpongeBob after goofy goober?" A fourth wrote.

A fifth said: "I like how he’s just hanging there like an angry fairy."

Some people think he shouted: "Okay okay I have watched it enough times I think he yelled 'Open Your Eyes'"

However, others suggested: "He definitely said “I’m on yo ahh” that man fired."

UNILAD has contacted Chris Brown's representatives for comment.
