- Never buy through social media: You will never know if tickets available on social media are legitimate and often, people are turned away from the event as a consequence of buying fake tickets. Scammers can also use hacked social media accounts to offer non-existent tickets online. So, even if you see a friend or family member selling a ticket, always be cautious. Scammers can hack into social media accounts to try and sell non-existent tickets.
- Always check the URL: Some sophisticated fake websites may appear to be the site you’re intending to browse. Look out for any misspellings in the URL. It's also unusual for a retail website to use '.org' or '.net' domains.
- Think about how you pay: Avoid paying by bank transfer, as it can be difficult for your bank to get your money back if something goes wrong.
