Morgan Wallen leaves fans fuming after cancelling his show at the last possible moment

One fan even sent him an 'itemized bill' for the money they'd spent on the event

Morgan Wallen has left fans fuming after cancelling his show at the last possible moment, with one even claiming they lost thousands due to fuel, hotel bookings and outfits that were no longer needed.

Wallen was due to perform in Oxford, Prentiss County, Mississippi on Sunday 23 April, with fans gathering at the Vaught Hemingway Stadium.

However, as everyone had settled down for a night of music, a large message appeared on the screen to inform them that the event had been cancelled due to Wallen losing his voice.

“Ladies & gentlemen, unfortunately Morgan has lost his voice and is unable to perform tonight — therefore tonight’s show has been cancelled,” it said.

“Please make your way safely to the stadium exits. Refunds for tonight’s event will be available at point of purchase.”

Crowds were already gathered when the notice appeared.

Posting a photo of the notice, one concertgoer fumed on Twitter: “Completely disappointed in @MorganWallen!! Been sitting in this stadium for 3 hrs and he just announced the show is canceled!!! COMPLETE BULLS**T!!!”

Another fan tagged the singer on Facebook, sharing their ‘itemized bill’ to break down just how much they had spent to travel to the event - $3,982, apparently.

“Morgan Wallen since you are offering refunds... here is out itemized bill for you.”

They added: “I’ll expect my refund tomorrow. Thanks bro. My husband has gone with me to 2 concerts. Ever. In the 17 years we’ve been together. Somehow I talked him into this one and this s**t happens.”

Expenses included $560 on a hotel, $80 for two tanks of gas, $1,600 on four tickets, $220 on drinks at the concert and $235 on merchandise.

The concertgoer claimed they spent thousands.

The woman also added in a bill for $629 at Rebel Rags – which sells a range of University of Mississippi merch – saying they ‘wouldn't have had the opportunity to go had it not been for this concert’.

According to WTVA, one Prentiss County woman has even filed a lawsuit against the singer for cancelling last minute.

The outlet said the woman is seeking compensatory damages and wants her suit to become a class action lawsuit.

Wallen later took to Instagram to address the sudden cancellation, apologising to his fans.

“After last night’s show I started losing my voice so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor and working through my vocal exercises trying to get better,” he said.

“I really thought I’d be able to take the stage and it kills me to deliver this so close to showtime, but my voice is shot and I am unable to sing.

"All tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. I am so sorry, I promise you guys I tried everything I could.”

Wallen later issued an apology on Instagram.

In another message, he said: "Y'all know how important my fans are to me, so I feel horrible about this news. There's nothing more I want to do than be on stage playing for you guys. But as of today, I'm on doctor-ordered vocal rest and we have to reschedule this week's shows.

"I appreciate and understand everything you do to get to my shows, so it would be unfair of me to put on a show that I know will not be 100%. I'm doing everything I can to speed up the process of getting to that 100% mark."

Wallen added that new tour dates included 27 June in Grand Rapids, MI; 8 September in Moline, IL; and 9 September in Lincoln, NE.

"All original tickets will be honored for the new dates," the star said. "For questions about refunds, please check with your point of purchase."

UNILAD has reached out to a representative for Wallen for comment.
