From Beyoncé's record-breaking award count to Lizzo's jaw-dropping performance and Harry Styles' controversial acceptance speech, this year's Grammy Awards Ceremony was definitely one for the books.

But one standout moment came from an accidental caught-on-camera moment when Diplo lost out to Beyoncé for Best Dance/ Electronic Album.

As she got up to accept her first of four wins that evening, cameras quickly cut to the DJ and music producer who could be seen clapping and passing a comment to someone.

After a few re-watches, viewers were convinced Diplo had been caught uttering the words: "She bought that."

There was also a bit of uproar from the EDM fanbase who were a little peeved that Beyoncé beat Diplo, Bonobo, Odesza, and Rüfüs Du Sol for the award, despite Renaissance being the first electronic/dance album in her discography.

However, after the awards wrapped, Diplo made it crystal clear that he has nothing but love for Queen Bey, and that he definitely doesn't think she 'bought' her win.

Reposting the clip of his reaction to Beyoncé's win, alongside an album of photos from the big night, Diplo clarified that he had actually been filmed saying: "I'm glad to be a part of this."

In his caption, the DJ explained: "Tonight was the first time the dance / electronic category was televised and it was rightfully so... between me, Rufus, Beyoncé, Odesza, Bonobo... was one of the strongest years for electronic music."

He went on to assure fans that he was a Beyoncé 'stan', reminding them that he has worked on major dance hits with her before, like 'Girls (Who Run The World)' and 'Til The End Of Time'.

"What’s important to understand was that her intention was 100 percent," he continued.

"He did the work found the real producers and she made classics... so she deserves her flowers.

"And when she won I was just proud to see my nomination on the screen in the huge arena... (swipe to the end to see what I said) but the best part was my friends and the other artists in the genre still out raving until sunrise somewhere in LA : that’s what’s the music is really about."

In fact, earlier that night on the red carpet, Diplo revealed that he fully expected to lose out to Beyoncé.

While on the red carpet, a reporter from Out magazine told the DJ that, as a Las Vegas man, he couldn't wait to see Diplo at venues like XS Nightclub and Encore Beach club again soon, to which Diplo replied: "I was there this morning! I came here to lose to Beyoncé at, like, 11am, I had to fly straight here."

So, Beyhive, let that be your sign to stop the Diplo slander and let this poor man produce club classics in peace!
