The woman who won a free car on The Oprah Winfrey Show has shared the advice the host gave her off-camera following the win.

We're all pretty much familiar with the 'You get a car! You get a car! You get a car!' meme but now, one very lucky fan, who was actually a recipient of one of the gifted vehicles, has opened up about what it was really like to be part of the TV legend's 'favorite things' giveaway.

Candi Davis, from Chicago, has taken to TikTok to post a series of tell-all videos chronicling the situation, alongside what the talk show host told audiences when the cameras weren't rolling. Check it out:

Candi was gifted diamond earrings, a fancy designer handbag and a brand new car over a decade ago now after participating as an audience member on the talk show.

The woman told her 38.3k TikTok followers: "I was in the audience of the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2010, when she gave away the Volkswagen Beetles for Christmas.

"It was a crazy, crazy day."

Candi went on to explain what Oprah, who famously first gifted her live studio audience a round of cars back in September 2004, told herself and other Beetle recipients after the big reveal.

Recalling the event, which took place in November of 2010, the woman claimed: "She kicked off her gold high heels shoes, sat down on the edge of the stage and talked to all of us.

"She said, 'I know you don’t feel like you deserve any of this stuff, and you don’t'."

Oprah allegedly continued: "None of you deserve it.

"But you are worthy of it, and I want you to remember that."

Candi dubbed the interaction a 'beautiful moment' but it's clear the 3.3 million viewers had a totally different take on the matter, with many saying the pep talk was somewhat of a back-handed compliment.

One TikTok user wrote: "'None of you deserve it, but you’re worthy'… kind of sounds like a back-handed compliment."

A second struck out: "I didn’t like what she said. You don’t deserve it?"

A third, however, defended: "She probably meant that you’re not entitled to it but you’re worthy of the blessing."

"It’s [giving] backhanded compliment,” a fourth TikTok user responded, to which Candi assured: "It wasn’t meant to be. I just did not tell the story right."

In a follow-up TikTok, Candi attempted to explain the situation further to the more skeptical viewers.

She said: "When the show was over, the audience was full of people just crying and very emotional about what we had all just experienced of being gifted the car.

"There were a lot of people saying, 'I should sell my car and give the money to my kids'."

The woman went on to note: "Oprah overheard some of that talk and said, ‘Let me stop you right there. You don’t deserve this, and if you feel like you don’t deserve this, that’s valid.

"But I want you to feel worthy of it. I want you to accept it. I want you to leave here with the car and not feel bad. Release any guilt you feel about being gifted this car'."

To put the internet at ease, Candi resolved: "She meant it in a really sweet way. It wasn’t a backhanded compliment."
