Two actors have been killed while working in Mexico on the Netflix series The Chosen One.

Six other cast members are believed to have been injured after a van they were riding in crashed near Mulege on the Baja California Sur peninsula.

The Baja California Department of Culture has confirmed that Raymundo Garduño Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar died in the crash.

Local media reported the incident occurred on Thursday 16 June after the van flipped off the road in a desert area. The crew were reported to have been working in the nearby Santa Rosalia area at the time for The Chosen One.

The Netflix series is described by the streaming platform as: "A 12-year-old boy learns he’s the returned Jesus Christ, destined to save humankind. Based on the comic book series by Mark Millar and Peter Gross."

The series was being filmed for Netflix. (

According to casting calls, the series is being taped by an independent production company.
