The Simpsons has been re-imagined using AI as a horror movie and the result truly is the stuff of nightmares.

Our beloved animated Springfield family have had a lot of different versions over the years, from being turned into LEGO to Death Note characters inspired by the cult anime.

Now in this terrifying unofficial version of the show’s main characters, Homer is portrayed as being soaked in blood while Marge stands in a creepy room surrounded by fruit.

Regardless of how many 'Treehouse of Terror' episodes you’ve seen over the decades, this AI re-imagining is shared on Reddit by Primocolon, who used put prompts into ChatGPT 4 plus Midjourney and InstantSwap to put the celebrity faces on the characters.

If you squint you’ll be able to see that each Simpsons character resembles a famous actor, as the AI re-imagining sees the likes of John C. Reilly, Toni Collette and even Patrick Stewart taking on the iconic roles.

One can dream.

Homer looks frightening in the AI version of The Simpsons.

The computer-generated art sees Step Brothers star John C. Reilly as Homer, who doesn’t usually spend much time in the kitchen, but in this horror version is covered in blood after cutting up meat on the counter.

Meanwhile, horror movie icon Toni Collette, who starred in the likes of Hereditary and The Sixth Sense, is seen here as Marge, but without the homemaker’s iconic blue beehive ‘do.

Having already starred in the spooky film version It, Jack Dylan Grazer would be in somewhat familiar territory as a horror version of Bart. The striking black and white AI image sees Bart, with his spiky platinum blond hair, glare at the camera while odd-looking Bart look-alikes stand and watch him.

Can you imagine Toni Collette as Marge Simpson?

Last Night in Soho’s Thomasin McKenzie is depicted as a kooky zombie version of Lisa, while Jason Sudeikis sports a moustache as ‘stupid sexy’ Flanders, Steve Buscemi is depicted as Moe, Ethan Hawke as a creepy version of Krusty the Klown, Stranger Things’ David Harbour as Chief Wiggum and Noah Schnapp as Milhouse, J.K. Simmons as Principal Skinner, Susan Sarandon as Edna Krabappel, Danny Pudi as Apu and last but not least, X-Men star Patrick Stewart as the megalomaniac Mr. Burns.

The pictures have gone down very well among Simpsons and horror fans alike over on Reddit. “It's the background characters that are truly disturbing,” one fan commented.

“That is absolutely horrifying,” another spooked-out commenter wrote.

While someone else penned: “This is amazing.”

Good luck trying to sleep tonight.
