Sylvester Stallone says a movie he made is 'one of the worst films in the entire solar system'

Despite being one of the biggest action heroes of all time, Sylvester Stallone has lashed out at one of his films.

He may be a Golden Globe-winning actor with over fifty years in the business, but Sylvester Stallone has admitted that not all of his films has been heavy hitters.

The Rocky star has even called a movie he starred in one of the ‘worst films in the entire solar system’ during an interview.

It’s not the only film the action hero regretted, as he admitted to starring in an adult film as a younger man.

At the time, he’d been struggling to break into the film industry, and was briefly homeless, shortly after moving to New York City.

Having spent three weeks sleeping at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, he saw the advert for the softcore film, The Party at Kitty and Stud’s, and out of desperation decided to audition.

In a previous interview with Playboy, he told the magazine that he had to either ‘do that movie or rob someone’ after he was suddenly evicted from his apartment.

“I was at the end – the very end – of my rope," Stallone candidly admitted.

Thankfully, the actor earned $200 (£160) for his 1970 role and was able to come back from the brink of bankruptcy.

Despite this, there is another film that The Expendables star regrets even more.

According to the 76-year-old actor, he hated the script for Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot and was only lured to the role after hearing that his rival Arnold Schwarzenegger was interested.

The 1992 buddy comedy stars the action hero as long-suffering Sergeant Joe Bomowski, who has to put up with his mum, played by Golden Girls’ Estelle Getty, constantly interrupting his cases.

Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted at Beyond Fest to toying with Stallone, saying: “I read the script. It was so bad. You know, I’ve also done some movies that went right in the toilet, right? That were bad. But this was really bad. So I went in."

He continued, telling the crowd: “I said to myself, ‘I’m going to leak out that I have tremendous interest.’ I know the way it works in Hollywood. I would then ask for a lot of money. So then they’d say, ‘Let’s go give it to Sly. Maybe we can get him for cheaper.'”

Shortly after this, Stallone was cast in the critical flop with reviewers panning the film.

Stallone resented starring in the 1992 buddy comedy.

Although it eventually grossed over $70 million dollar, the action hero still deeply regrets starring the nineties comedy.

“The worst film I’ve ever made by far… maybe one of the worst films in the entire solar system, including alien productions we’ve never seen… a flatworm could write a better script than Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot,” he bitterly told press in 2006.

He even quipped that the film acted like birth control, saying: “In some countries – China, I believe – running Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot once a week on government television has lowered the birth rate to zero. If they ran it twice a week, I believe in twenty years China would be extinct.”
