Fans Notice Stranger Things Scene Is Identical To Iconic High School Musical Moment

Stranger Things' fans have been left in stitches after realising one of the series' scenes is near-identical to one from High School Musical.

It's 2007. You're dressed in leggings, neon leg warmers and clutching your hairbrush as you prance around your room belting 'Gotta Go My Own Way' at the top of your lungs, gazing longingly at the poster of Zac Efron stuck on your bedroom wall. Life doesn't get much better than this.

However, prepare for your mind to be blown. You may have moved on since High School Musical came to an end in 2008, and started something new by growing into TV dramas such as Netflix series Stranger Things, but little did you know that the supernatural hit has ties to the 'Fabulous' past.

Fans have been left gobsmacked by just how 'identical' two scenes are from the film and series.

Catch the comparison here:

One scene of the TikTok video shows Troy (Efron) confronting Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) on the golf course they've been working at over summer break.

'Gotta Go My Own Way' begins and so did the tears of all teenage girls as they realised the course of true love never does run smooth.

However, as Troy and Gabriella confront one another, the split screen on the TikTok video also reveals Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) running after Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) in the bowling alley.

Mike accuses Will of not having been a good friend because he didn't reveal Eleven's life isn't how she's been portraying it to him. Will then speaks out about feeling like a third-wheel - Wolfhard recently revealing in an interview his character is definitely in love with Mike.

The topic of why the pair haven't spoken in ages despite how they're meant to be best friends rears its head too, only to later be properly addressed in an emotional car journey.

The scenes are eerily similar.

Fans have since pointed out just how similar the two scenes are - from frame by frame the shot changing to a different character at exactly the same time, to 'the clothes,' as well as 'the lighting' too.

The post has amassed over four million views, hundreds of thousands of likes and tens of thousands of comments, with Stranger Things and High School Musical fans having flooded to the video in awe and trying to figure out if the similarities were purposeful.

"High School Musical was on the list of movies from which they took inspiration for season 4.... for real. I think this was intentional," one said.

Another wrote: "This was so intentional I js know."

A third commented: "Not the hairstyles low-key matching."

The editor of the video clarified the footage is edited so the timing between the two scenes aligns better.

However, she explained: "I made it cuz I was watching HSM and thought of Will and Mike."
