Why Pedro Pascal probably won’t be seen in The Mandalorian ever again

The actor has played the titular bounty hunter since 2019

Heads up - this article contains spoilers for the third episode of season three of The Mandalorian

With The Last Of Us being one of the biggest shows of the year so far, you might be used to seeing star Pedro Pascal just about everywhere at the moment - but one place you’re unlikely to see him anytime soon is in his other popular show The Mandalorian.

Although Pascal has played the titular bounty hunter in the Star Wars spin-off show since it launched in 2019 - we’ve only actually seen the actor’s face three times.

This is because his character, Din Djarin, has taken a vow - known as the Way of the Mandalore - with his clan which means he must not remove his mask.

And in episode three, we saw Din Djarin cleanse himself of his past mistakes by bathing in the Living Waters of Mandalore.

Din Djarin then returned to Children of the Watch and presented the Living Waters he collected to the clan’s Armorer, who was able to confirm they were the real deal and absolved him of his transgressions and announced he was a member once more.

Having gone through all that effort to redeem himself, it seems unlikely our pal Din Djarin would be keen to throw it all away again by unmasking himself, right?

This doesn't, of course, mean that Pascal is at all done with the Disney+ series, so we can all breathe a heavy sigh of relief there!

Pascal has previously opened up about what it's like to play a character who almost always has his face hidden away - and it turns out, it’s not great.

In an interview with Empire last month, he said: “It’s like putting on a head-to-toe glove with weights on it.

“It’s ironic that you can’t see any facial expression because it puts you in the world so completely, and instantly makes the character feel real – but you can’t see s**t!”

Naturally, not being able to see isn’t an ideal situation and Pascal admits it can be quite dangerous.

The actor’s face is rarely seen in the series.

“They’ve continued to finesse and make it more comfortable, but it’s like going blind,” Pascal said.

“Your breath completely fogs up the narrow slit that you can see through. There’s no peripheral vision. If there’s a hole, I’m gonna fall into it.”

But it’s not all bad - as Pascal also revealed that donning the costume does help him get into character.

He added: “When it’s on, you immediately feel powerful, protected, dangerous, and like a protector.” Albeit a ‘protector’ who can’t see where he’s going.
