A massive debate has been sparked after people noticed an odd little detail in Twilight that has left them baffled.

Now for many of us, Twilight was an utter blight on human consciousness for a brief period in high school, for others the only thing that mattered was whether you were Team Edward or Team Jacob.

But now that we are all a little older, its fun to look back at these films and point and laugh at the goofy side of things, intentional or not.

And upon a rewatch, some fans have noticed this peculiar little detail that has sparked a whole host of theories.

In one scene while Bella (Kristen Stewart) is at school, a bunch of extras can be seen in the background doing something strange.

At first glance it appears that they are playing soccer or hacky sack... but without the sack or a ball, so pretty much just randomly kicking the air...

A brief video of it has recently popped up in Reddit with one surprised viewer proclaiming that Twilight is ‘the movie that just keeps giving’.

This sparked conversations about what is actually happening.

One person joked: “It's called Airball..it's very famous in schools with awkward and unusually pale teens.”

While another added: “Me pretending to be busy at work.”

However, some fans, who know the film really well pointed out that in the longer version of the scene, the background extras can actually be seen kicking a hacky sack around.

This resulted in some people speculating as to why the extras eventually end up just kicking nothing and flail their feet instead.

One user suggested the extras may have been asked to stop playing for real due to the sound the sack could be making.

They said: “Real ball makes noise, movie sound editor likes to deal with as little unwanted sounds as possible.”

Another agreed and said: “Because it would make noise. Think they’re meant to be playing that American game hacky sack with a little bean bag or whatever but they wouldn’t want background noise interfering with the audio.”

While another person said that the extras playing real hacky sack could 'eventually mess up the shot one way or another’ due to being too distracting from Bella and her conversation.

Well while we may never know the true reason... it still looks pretty amusing and the much funnier possibility is the extras simply messed up the game and wanted to continue performing.
