Apparently The Boys actors have more in common with their characters than you'd think.

Luckily this isn't in reference to Antony Starr who portrays narcissist Homelander in the well-loved Prime Video series, but about Black Noir instead.

Nathan Mitchell stars at the superhero in The Boys, with the character making an unexpected return in series four, despite having been killed off the season prior.

This season of The Boys has had fans saying one particular scene was 'straight out of a horror movie', as well as actors speaking out about the psychological impact *that* octopus scene had on them.

But how has Black Noir come back after being disemboweled by Homelander, I hear you ask?

Basically, the person in the suit (who was never unmasked) died, but another guy has since taken their place thus Black Noir II was born.

And it turns out that the actor actually has something in common with his character than you may think.

You see, Black Noir suffers from Narcolepsy, a condition the Mayo Clinic describes as a sleep disorder that makes people very drowsy during the day, meaning they find it hard to stay away for long periods of time. And it turns out, Mitchell has the same condition.

Black Noir's narcolepsy became apparent in Season 4 Episode 7 when he fell asleep during a fight with Billy Butcher.

Spilling the tea on Mitchell, his co-stars Starr and Chace Crawford revealed that the actor genuinely falls asleep on set.

Chatting this Josh Horowitz for a Q&A on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the cast was asked who complains the most about their costume, to which Starr alleged that Mitchell gripes about his 'on an hourly basis'.

Crawford then added: "We'll be in scenes and he'll literally fall asleep."

"He legit falls asleep," Starr confirmed. "There's a line [that goes], 'Is Noir asleep?' and he wakes up and goes 'I'm narcoleptic' which [Mitchell] f**king is in real life. He's fallen asleep at the table in that suit."

Mitchell himself has addressed the matter and confirmed that Noir's condition is a character trait pulled from his own life.

He told TV Insider: "It’s funny because [when I] talk to my friends who are now seeing the season, they’ll laugh with me and they’re like, 'Yeah, I remember when we were in high school and you’d come to parties and just nap on the couch.'"

"It’s something I’ve been doing my entire life just taking little naps here and there," Mitchell went on. "[...] The writers are so great. They see us and take unique parts of our personality and they insert them into the roles in really fun, creative ways. It’s a cool character trait that I’m glad we get to explore."
