The Boys star reveals the extreme psychological impact filming octopus sex scene had on him

The Boys certainly does not shy away from disgusting moments but actor Chace Crawford has admitted he had reservations about filming his infamous scene.

The Amazon Prime TV show has some of the oddest and grossest scenes on streaming site. If you imagine watching some of them out of context then it gets even more wild.

In the sixth episode of the show's third season, called 'Herogasm', we see Crawford's character, The Deep, get it on with an octopus.

But while it was hilariously disgusting for viewers, Crawford has admitted he wasn’t exactly confident or comfortable while filming it.

He even said he might have had second thoughts about taking up the role if he knew this is what his character would eventually be getting up to. Can’t blame him to be honest.

"It’s so funny and brilliant now, but when that came up, I was like, ‘Oh God, how’s this going to work?’" Crawford told Rolling Stone.

“And then it got 24 hours out from the first day I had to shoot it and I almost had a panic attack.”

The Gossip Girl star explained how The Boys' writer, Eric Kripke, was able to accommodate him.

He said: “I called Kripke - he’s so great. He’s got a million things going on but his door’s always open.

“So, I was worried about the scene. I’m like, 'How are we gonna do this? What are the angles gonna be? How naked do I have to be?' He changed one shot for me. And it was great.”

It probably helped that the scene was also shot on a closed set rather than having everyone watching off camera.

And while The Boys has an intimacy co-ordinator, according to Rolling Stone, this particular scene did not.

“But yeah, just the act of picking up the octopus and getting a wet octopus in the bed was so funny and weird. And then it doesn’t come out for a year almost, and you’re like, ‘How is this going to be received?’" Crawford added.

While he did admit that he has been mocked a little on social media for the scene, it seems the actor doesn’t mind it too much.

It probably helps that the Amazon Prime show has been watched the world over and has been very well received from both fans and critics.

One can only hope there are even more memorable scenes to come... but I think we can leave the bestiality stuff now it’s been done.

Kripke even told UNILAD this was the one thing that Amazon actually asked him to tone down for season four, saying they requested ‘less octopus f**king’.
