Emilia Clarke has revealed how she ended up 'breaking a rib' while filming a sex scene with three men.
The Game of Thrones star is taking to our TV screens once again, but this time in a new spy thriller series, titled Ponies.
The series is set during the Cold War in the 1970s and follows Clarke as Bea, a widowed secretary who becomes a CIA operative in the American embassy in Moscow, Russia. Alongside her colleague Twila (Haley Lu Richardson), the pair begin to investigate the deaths of their husbands.
And for Clarke’s character, Bea, that means getting down and dirty with a few high-level operatives in the KGB.

Following the show's January 15 debut on Peacock, both Clarke and Richardson sat down with TheWrap for an interview, where the 39-year-old revealed how the incident occurred.

“Three men, in a number of hours,” Clarke said, speaking about one particular day of shooting. “Just keep bringing it — I’m going to sit on this thing, you’re going to bring them in, we’re going to pretend to have sex. I broke a rib that day.”
Confirming her story, Richardson then added: “She really did. She’s such a tiny little sensitive body, meant she broke a rib.”

Richardson explained that she was in hair and make-up while Clarke was on the scene, and that she saw the men come in to have their make-up removed.
She said: “I was like ‘So how was it?’ They were like ‘Yeah! (panting)."
Clarke added that when her doctor questioned how she sustained the injury, she had to be honest, admitting: “Sex! Times three!”
Luckily, it wasn't too serious, as when The Edge of Seventeen star asked her how she was doing, Clarke said: "It didn’t like, fully break, it just popped out a little bit."

The Me Before You star previously revealed how a major health issue over 10 years ago left her fearful about the future of her career.

Speaking to the Big Issue in 2024, Clarke reflected on her two life-threatening brain hemorrhages which she experienced in 2011 and 2013, when filming Game of Thrones.
She previously described the 'excruciating pain' she suffered as a result of the brain injuries, which caused repeated vomiting and left her trying to stay conscious and maintain her brain function.

“When you have a brain injury, because it alters your sense of self on such a dramatic level, all of the insecurities you have going into the workplace quadruple overnight,” Clarke told the publication.
“The first fear we all had was: ‘Oh my God, am I going to get fired? Am I going to get fired because they think I’m not capable of completing the job?’”
The actor explained how she was worried when she returned to work after her first brain injury that she could actually die while in the role.
She said she remembers thinking: “Well, if I’m going to die, I better die on live TV.”
