Stranger Things fans have bizarre theory after seeing which tabs Duffer Brothers had open while writing ending

Fans have come up with the theory in light of the new Stranger Things documentary airing

For some reason, I have a feeling that Stranger Things fan theories aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

The critically acclaimed Netflix series recently drew to a close after 10 years on the streaming platform, and people had quite the mixed response to its finale.

I mean, it was inevitable that we were going to be left slightly disappointed because nobody really wanted Stranger Things to finish. But, as the well-known saying goes, all good things must come to an end.

One thing that people were left feeling a type of way about was Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown) having an arguably ambiguous ending.

Did she die? Is Mike's theory that she actually survived and escape really true? I guess we'll never know, folks.

Reportedly the only people who know what really happens to Eleven are Brown and the show's creators, Matt and Ross Duffer.

People were also convinced that there was going to be another episode after the finale was released, but no such thing has happened.

However, Stranger Things fans have been treated to a new documentary on the making of the last series.

Titled One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5, the detailed look at season five dropped on Netflix today (January 12).

People have rushed to watch the new release and have gone through it with a fine-tooth comb — so much so, viewers have analyzed the tabs the Duffer Brothers had open on their laptops in one particular scene.

See the trailer here:

As you know, it doesn't take much for die hard Stranger Things fans to think up their own theories and they've done just that with a simple glimpse of the screenwriters' laptop.

The new theory? The Duffer Brothers used both ChatGPT and Reddit when writing up the final script.

"Duffer Brothers had a Reddit tab open while writing the Stranger Things 5 ending," a Stranger Things Memes Twitter page pointed out.

Somebody replied: "Maybe he was checking out fan theories for inspiration?"

Another questioned: "So they really used chatgpt for this script? Wtf." A third wrote: "Who on Reddit is responsible for the terrible ending??"

A different viewer suggested: "So they really were cross checking if any of their ideas are part of theories already and went on to scrap them."

"Duffer Brothers really saw 'fan theories' trending and went 'hold my script rewrite'," quipped another.

But, for the amount of time it took the write and film season five of Stranger Things, I find it highly unlikely it was a ChatGPT job, guys.

And in regards to Reddit, the Duffer Brothers have previously stated that they knew how the show would end long before the finale — so it's also quite unlikely they needed Reddit's help to pen it.

Cut them some slack!
