The porn star whose story is told in a new steamy Netflix miniseries has defended the show amid viewer criticism.

Some Netflix subscribers think the streamer has gone too far with Supersex - a new miniseries that 'loosely' tells the story of one of the most iconic porn stars to ever perform in front of a camera: Rocco Siffredi.

The porn star shot over 1,300 films and was dubbed the 'godfather of rough sex' - so as you might expect the series is pretty full on.

According to lead actor Alessandro Borghi, there are over 50 sex scenes in the seven-episode miniseries.

And one scene in particular from episode six got viewers riled up.

Supersex contains some very graphic content.

Spoilers ahead - following the death of his mother in the episode, Rocco is met at the funeral by one of his mother's friends, who offers her condolences, drops to her knees, and performs oral sex on him.

One viewer wrote on Facebook: "I watched Supersex, which was compelling and interesting. Until, episode six mid-way. It was appalling, disrespectful and uncalled for. I’m talking about the cemetery scene.

"Before this episode, I would have given a thumbs up.

    "So messed up."

Another viewer wrote on X: "Yes, I know, complaining about too many sex scenes in Supersex is like complaining about too many car races in Fast & Furious. But also a few less, eh."

Siffredi himself has now sat down with the Hollywood Reporter to defend the x-rated series.

Speaking of how Supersex is told from the point of view of two women, the porn star said: "[Director] Francesca Mazzoleni is forward, she has a great head and also a way of looking at things that I really like."

He also had plenty of praise for Borghi, the actor who plays him.

He said: "I’ll start by telling you that no one else in Italy could play me.

"Porn, contrary to what many people believe, is a clean place because just as Borghi can be a spotless, fearless hero one time and a ferocious bad boy another, so in hard-core you can live out even the most extreme fantasies safely, in a place where no one judges you.

"We represent the most private and hidden side of men and women — the side that everyone wants to lock in a drawer as soon as they finish experiencing it.

"As soon as the porn movie is over, we leave the attic or the basement. Alessandro is a free actor and doesn’t give a s**t what people think. I appreciate that even more than his wonderful performance."
