Miles Teller revealed he took on a 'very physically demanding' training regime for his role in his latest Apple TV+ movie.

The star is no stranger to having to adhere to strict practices for roles.

He previously captivated audiences with his role in 2014's Whiplash - which saw him take on up to four hours of drumming practice a day.

And as Rooster in 2022's Top Gun: Maverick, the actor had another rigorous routine to endure.

As well as a strict diet, he was sent to boot camp-style training for 10 weeks, as well as taking on various strength-based exercises, as Man of Many reported.

And it turns out, this had helped him prepare for his role as highly trained operative Levi alongside Anya Taylor-Joy in The Gorge.

The movie, which releases on Apple TV+ today (February 14), follows these two elite snipers - an American and a Lithuanian working for Russia named Drasa - who are assigned a mysterious mission: to guard either side of a deep and impenetrable gorge, without knowing what actually lies beneath them.

UNILAD got the chance to speak to Teller ahead of the movie's release.

When asked how his Top Gun: Maverick physique and workout helped him prepare for this new mystery-horror movie, he had a charming response.

Teller told UNILAD: “I said, 'Look, guys, I'm coming off of Top Gun, but I'm used to being more tan as a character, and where's the oil? We need way more oil for this guys'."

But he candidly admitted: "It was very physically demanding, and we had great stunt coordinators and stunt guys and girls who were helping us out.

"But what was really interesting is when, because Anya is military training, Drasa's military training is completely different than the training that I would have.

"And so her movements are - and this is why it's so great to have people that do all the research."

Teller continued: "And so the people who were training her had experience in that world as well, and you were able to see it in our movement, yeah, which I thought was just an added layer of detail."

Fans who've already watched the movie took to Rotten Tomatoes to share their thoughts, with many claiming they 'absolutely loved' The Gorge.

"Anya Taylor Joy and Miles Teller have great chemistry and are so believable in their roles," one person said.

A second weighed in: "Without spoilers I was SO pleasantly surprised that the trailer doesn’t give you any idea of what is in the Gorge and what the movie turns into."

If that's not got you intrigued, I don't know what will...

The Gorge is available to stream now on Apple TV+.
