Keira Knightley reveals Love Actually scene she had to redo aged 17 because it was too ‘creepy’

Keira Knightley reveals Love Actually scene she had to redo aged 17 because it was too ‘creepy’

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor couldn't hide her emotions over one particular scene in the 2003 Christmas rom-com

It's the sign of the times watching older movies with creepy scenes in them that at one stage or other people wouldn't have found as questionable.

One of those films is Love Actually which came out back in 2003, and it includes a 17-year-old Keira Knightley starring as Juliet, whose life gets turned upside down when her husband's best friend Mark, played by The Walking Dead actor Andrew Lincoln, tells her he has a secret crush on her.

The rom-com has become somewhat of a legendary Christmas movie, with it set around the festive period in London and features a star-studded cast.

You've got Colin Firth who plays a writer name Jamie who begins falling for his Portuguese housekeeper Aurélia, played by Lúcia Moniz.

There's also Hugh Grant who stars as a newly-elected Prime Minister called David - who develops feelings towards a member of his household staff named Natalie - portrayed by Martine McCutcheon.

Of course there's also Northern Irish hard-man Liam Neeson as Daniel, a grieving widower who helps his stepson Sam, played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster, spark a romantic relationship with his first crush.

There's a lot to unpack in the film and it's definitely worth a watch on the build up to Christmas, but the only real questionable scene in the show features Knightley and Lincoln - who we'll describe in character now as Juliet and Mark.

Mark shows up at Juliet's door with some flash cards and a boombox and he then starts confessing his unwavering love for her and pretends to be a Christmas carol singer at the door.

I'll let Knightley explain why she found it creepy.

In a recent interview with the LA Times, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 39, admitted: "The slightly stalkerish aspect of it — I do remember that.

"My memory is of Richard, who is now a very dear friend, of me doing the scene, and him going, 'No, you’re looking at [Andrew] like he’s creepy,' and I’m like [in a dramatic whisper], 'But it is quite creepy.'

"And then having to redo it to fix my face to make him seem not creepy."

She added: "I mean, there was a creep factor at the time, right? Also, I knew I was 17. It only seems like a few years ago that everybody else realised I was 17."

Yeah, showing up at someone's door with cue cards and a CD player is definitely the sign of a stalker - sorry Love Actually!
