The MTV Movie Awards has seen many an iconic moment on its stage, however, over 20 years ago, Jim Carrey pulled out a move which saw him branded a 'hero'.
At the 1995 MTV Movie Awards, Cameron Diaz ended up seemingly being kissed against her will by musician Chris Isaak and a clip of the incident reveals just how uncomfortable an incident it was, leaving viewers left utterly outraged.
However, an extended version of the footage has since revealed none other than The Grinch star Jim Carrey, swooping in to get back at Isaak.

As if we could even love Carrey any more than we already do, The Truman Show star has received an outpouring of support for his heroic actions in making Isaak pay for the discomfort he'd appeared to have caused Diaz.
In the original clip, Isaak can be seen putting his arm around Diaz as the pair stand on stage ready to announce the year's 'Best Kiss' award.
Despite Diaz leaning away and even putting her arm up in an attempt to block herself from the musician, Isaak continues to lean closer and even grabs her by the wrist.

Isaak then appears to forcefully kiss Diaz and even comments that he knew she would 'come around'.
While it wasn't confirmed if the kiss was scripted or not, it sparked outrage from social media users online, but also - as the extended clip has now revealed - from Carrey.

After being awarded the 'Best Kiss' award alongside his co-star of Dumb and Dumber Lauren Holly, Carrey seizes his opportunity to help a fellow actor in need.

As soon as he's ascended the staircase of the stage, Carrey strides directly over to Isaak and embraces him.
While it can't be seen from the perspective of the camera whether the pair actually snog, Isaak can be seen wiping his lips slightly after Carrey walks off, the musician looking decidedly taken aback and uncomfortable.
Many fans have since speculated Carrey definitely did it 'in retaliation on [Diaz's] behalf'.

"You can see on his face that smile. He knew what he was gonna do. When they called his name," another wrote.
A third commented: "I think he was more excited about getting revenge for her than getting the award! Love him for that."

A final resolved: "And that is why Jim is the goat."
