Almost seven years since it debuted, Euphoria is finally returning for its hotly-anticipated third season.
On Wednesday (January 14), HBO Max released a two-and-a-half-minute long trailer teasing the Emmy-winning TV show's return in just a few months.
Set five years after the (literal) theatrics at East Highland High School, the trailer revisits our favorite characters in the 'real world'.
We can expect even more chaotic drama for Zendaya's Rue Bennett, Sydney Sweeney's Cassie Howard, Jacob Elordi's Nate Jacobs and Hunter Schafer's Jules Vaughn.
It seems Rue is indebted to drug dealers, while Cassie, who is now a cam girl, ties the knot with Nate, despite their dramatic season two break-up, and Jules dominates the sugar baby game.
Alexa Demie, Chloe Cherry and Maude Apatow also return, while singer Rosalía, Natasha Lyonne and Sharon Stone join the cast.
Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi reprise their roles (HBO) Season three's official logline reads: “A group of childhood friends wrestle with the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption, and the problem of evil.”
The Sam Levinson-created drama initially captured global attention with its colorful cinematography and unflinching look at addiction. But with a five-year time-jump confirmed for season three, fans are now having mixed feelings.
"I feel like I don’t even gotta rewatch s1 or s2 bc this is a new show entirely," one fan wrote on YouTube.
"See what happens when you take too long to release the third season? It turns to a whole different show!" a second complained.
"So... I take it none of them went to college?" a third quipped.
Although, as both Euphoria's characters and audience grow up, what exactly are they expecting?
Not to mention the show's production faced multiple setbacks, including the 2023 deaths of actor Angus Cloud and producer Kevin Turen, the Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes and cast members' other huge projects, after the show launched them to dizzying heights of fame.
Others dubbed the new season - with sex, drugs and guns - as 'Grand Theft Auto the TV show.'
"This s**t went from high school drama to GTA," another agreed, as a third grumbled: "It's GTA the show before we get GTA 6."
The smash hit Rockstar game is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, after being delayed from an initial late-2025 window to May 26, 2026.
Elsewhere on Reddit, fans had a more open mind about the new instalment.
"No one has seen the show yet but everyone is complaining. Maybe we just wait and see and don’t judge from some screenshots?" one person said in response to a screenshot of Cassie posing in a skimpy dog outfit for her cam girl job.
"If you watched season one and two then you know damn well what the show is about. Season three is a time jump and all the characters are adults now so except even more 'craziness' and if u don’t like it u could just not watch the show," a second said.
I, for one, will absolutely be seated.
Euphoria premieres on Sunday April 12 on HBO Max, with new episodes releasing weekly.
