Major update on GTA 6 release date has left fans all saying the same thing

Rockstar made a heart-breaking announcement on social media about the fate of GTA 6 and it has sent fans into quite a spiral.

In case you haven’t been paying attention, Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 is pretty much sitting at the most anticipated video game in recent memory.

And for good reason, as the series has proven to be one of the most popular games across multiple gaming generations.

But with that said, the company has been breaking hearts lately after making an announcement on social media on November 6.

While many predicted it, the news hurt all the same, and some other companies even joined in on mocking the game publisher.

In a post on Twitter, Rockstar Games stated: “Hi everyone,

“Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026.

“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.

“We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City. Sincerely Rockstar Games.”

For those keeping track, this marks the second time that Rockstar disappointed its fans with a release date. In May earlier this year, they frustrated fans when they announced their release date goal was May 26, 2026, something the company admitted might be later than some fans were anticipating.

People on social media have admitted to now getting cold feet and making jokes, and half confessing they fear the game will be delayed again before November 19.

On Reddit, one fan wrote: “[The announcement] means actual release will likely be spring '27.”

Another said: “Which will be delayed to fall ‘27.”

A third wrote: “Based upon the planned duration, the time between today and when development started, as well as the amount of time in the delay they just announced the estimated release date for GTA 6 is February 2027.”

With another joked: " The eventual release, in December 2028 will be great!”

Another user commenting: “'Fool me once...shame on...shame on you. Fool me – can't get fooled again.' Well, looks like I got fooled again.”

Let the new countdown begin, I suppose.
