Diary of a Wimpy Kid stars reunite for first time in years in new photo

Some 14 years after the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid film released, its stars have reunited for the first time in years.

In what is leading many people including myself reminisce about their childhood, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid stars have reunited for the first time in years.

For those unaware, the film series follows the popular children's books from Jeff Kinney.

And while the instantly recognizable illustrations may feel like a blast from the past, the a new Dairy of a Wimpy Kid book is still releasing every year to this day.

The books were that loved by fans that page quickly turned to screen with the premiere of the first Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie in 2010.

The films did not stop there though, as three sequels followed - Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul.

The basic premise follows a school boy called Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon), who is trying to navigate the wild school life with his best pal Rowley Jefferson (Robert Capron).

Dairy of a Wimpy Kid starred the likes of Zachary Gordon, Robert Capron, Devon Bostick, Chloë Grace Moretz, Karan Brar, Laine MacNeil and Grayson Russell.

2010's Diary of a Wimpy Kid sits at a 55 percent critics' score Rotten Tomatoes, meaning perception of the film was very much mixed.

Nonetheless, stars who appeared have only had to say good things about working on Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

In a 2021 interview with Digital Journal, Gordon said: "As a kid, you don’t realize the magnitude of a project.

"You want to be a kid and have fun. Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a part of my legacy. It is something that I will always hold dear to my heart.

"I have been very blessed and fortunate. I am grateful that a new generation is starting to watch the movies."

Speaking of life after the franchise, Gordon added: "I am in a very interesting chapter where I am learning who I am. It’s about growth and acceptance."

Now, the actors of Greg and Rowley have reunited for their first photo together on social media in years.

Gordon shared the loving snap to Instagram, penning: "Zoo-Wee-Mama," a well-known quote from the films.

The two actors stand side by side - and fans are delighted to see them back together.

"Rowley and Greg! I love these movies!! Hi from Italy," one person penned in the comments.

"Name a better duo 100 percent YOU CAN’T," a second added.
