A video shows Jackass star Bam Margara 'rockying' a fan at an appearance in New Jersey.

In the video, the Jackass star is chatting with a fan when he disappears off into the store hosting the event on 22 October.

Things all seem to be over and done, before Bam reappears, sneaking up behind the fan and 'rockying' him.

For those who don't know, this basically means that he distracted him with something and then punched him in the head.

It might sound odd to people who aren't fans of the show, but the fan certainly wasn't put out by the gesture.

If anything, he looked absolutely delighted by it. The pair both burst out laughing and then spontaneously hugged in the shop.

The video was posted with a caption saying that this was the 'most happy I've seen him in years', and many people in the comments agreed.

One person wrote: "Good seeing bam have a genuine laugh. That sh*t was pretty funny."

Another said: "This is so good to see. I hope he knows we're rooting for him."

He set up the rocky with the fan.

A third posted: "I mean, the guy asked for it.. I'm sure plenty of people would be 'honored' to be rocky'd by Bam Margera lol. I sure hope Bam stays on a healthy path and continues to grow! He's going strong so far!"

The video has emerged as Bam celebrates committing to being sober.

He has publicly documented his struggle with substance abuse in the past, but has said that he is committed to remaining sober after meeting his current partner.

The skater has previously opened up about why going into rehab didn't work for him.

He told the Preston & Steve Show on 93.3 WMMR: "So now that I’m out... All that didn’t work, because I got forced into these rehabs like sabotaged by friends and family saying like, ‘Hey, Bam, come to Ruth’s Chris Steak House and have a nice fancy dinner.’

Fans remarked how happy Bam looked in the interaction.

"And it’s not a dinner, it’s just an intervention. So I’m already ready to get out [of rehab] like, ‘I can’t wait to get out just to sip on a White Claw and give you the bird.’

"So, all that didn’t work because I was already bitter about it."

He added: "And I just happened to meet the most phenomenal girl ever. Her name is Danny Marie – [she’s] right here. … So we connected big time [and] she gave me an ultimatum – her p*sswa or the Vodka. … 45 days now sober."
