Bam Margera has completed a one-year drug and alcohol treatment programme.

The Jackass star – who has reportedly been battling substance abuse issues for a number of years – took part in a 12-month long programme in Boca Raton, Florida.

The year-long programme is said to have been a significant step in Margera's recovery, particularly after he carried on despite an incident during that time which saw him picked up by police from a casino.

In September 2021, while waiting for his wife and son to visit him at rehab, Margera instead left and went to Don CeSar Hotel in Tampa.

He was pictured by fans with a drink in his hand.

The television personality believes a concerned family member or friend saw the image circulating online and called the authorities.

Prior to the casino incident, Margera spent 140 days in an Arizona rehabilitation facility for his manic bipolar disorder.

Since completing the programme, Margera has been reunited fully with his son and wife – shown in a moving video he posted to Instagram.

He also uploaded an image of his hand with, '1 year,' drawn on it.

The caption reads: "ONE YEAR of treatment!"

Margera also reflected to TMZ on his decision to drop his lawsuit against Johnny Knoxville and Paramount Pictures.

He decided to sue in August 2021 after he was axed from appearing in Jackass Forever. Margera claimed he was unfairly fired and alleged his civil rights had been violated over a 'Wellness Agreement' he said he was forced to sign by producers.

The 'Wellness Agreement' meant he had to take daily drug tests. However, he allegedly tested positive for Adderall.

Knoxville and the rest of the Jackass team said they wished for Margera to be 'happy and healthy and get the help he needs'.

Knoxville said: "We tried to push that along. I think that's all I really want to say about it... I don't want to get into public back-and-forth with Bam. I just want him to get better."

Margera has since noted he is 'happy with the outcome and feels vindicated' now that the lawsuit has been dropped.

As part of his rehabilitation, Margera said he's also gotten back into working out.

Fellow skateboarder and stunt performer Brandon Novak noted how much more back to normal Margera has seemed ever since.

The 42-year-old stuntman will continue to live near the rehab centre and complete out-patient treatment classes.
