Fans of the 40-year-old Virgin have been left shocked after finding out that someone from the cast was sentenced to prison for a horrible crime.

This film is one that may have stood the test of time as being a hilarious watch for many.

It’s got it all: romance, awkwardness, sex references, and a full-on live waxing session with bloopers intact.

So, it’s no surprise that the romantic comedy can kept its fanbase since its release in the 2000s.

Not only is the plot fantastic, but you’ve Steve Carell in it. Not to mention Paul Rudd, Kevin Hart and Seth Rogen too.

The 2005 flick saw Carell portray the nerdy and naive Andy Stitzer who, finally attempts to lose his virginity at the age of 40.

Written by Carell and Judd Apatow, it was an immediate hit at the box office and raked in $177 million against its $26 million budget.

However, many will be saddened to find out that one of the mainstays in the film who provided much-loved comedy was actually later arrested and sentenced to prison.

Do you remember Haziz?

He was one of Carell’s character’s co-workers who had some of the funniest lines on the movie set, and he was very much loved by all who saw the flick.

Unfortunately, when the cameras stopped rolling on Shelley Malil, the actor, he went on to commit a terrible crime against his then-girlfriend.

Malil, who also appeared in Scrubs and NYPD Blue, was sentenced in 2010 to 12 years to life in prison for the premeditated attempted murder on the woman, who he had stabbed 23 times.

While he was released on parole in 2018, the 60-year-old crashed and burned his potential movie star career and traumatized the woman he was supposed to love and protect.

At the time, he had admitted ‘trying to murder’ Kendra Beebe outside her home, while her children were inside which led to her receiving a punctured lung, multiple wounds to her neck, chest, back and arms as well as life-changing injuries to her face.

It is reported that she was attacked with a kitchen knife, and then a broken wine glass which narrowly missed her carotid artery as her children watched on.

The Independent quoted a report by San Diego Union-Tribune in which Halil told the court: “I wasn’t trying to hurt her – I was trying to murder her.”

According to People, Beebe was talking with a friend on her patio when Malil arrived and stabbed her in her torso, with the woman telling Good Morning America: "When I was going to give him a hug, he pulled out his hand and just started stabbing me."

The former actor said as per a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune, that he had been drinking heavily, and grabbed a knife from his home and drove to Beebe's house to ‘annihilate’ her because thought he had been slighted by her the day prior to the attack.

Lt. Phil Brust of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement: “Malil and the victim had apparently been in a dating relationship which recently ended.”

Fans who found out about his crimes have been left shocked.

One person wrote: "He did what??!"

Another said: "We did a show together. Saw him at an audition later on. Had some small talk. Last thing he told me before he left was to, 'Stay positive.'"

Someone else wrote: "I'm surprised they let him out. Doesn't seem like enough time."
