Millie Bobby Brown immediately told her co-star to ‘shut up’ as he appeared to spoil the ending of Stranger Things 5.

After what felt like an impossibly long wait, the likes of Brown, David Harbour and Winona Ryder returned to Hawkins for the finale of the gripping Netflix sci-fi horror.

The first half of Stranger Things season 5 dropped on the platform in late November, with the very last three of its eight episodes making up volume two set to arrive on Christmas Day to take us through to New Year's Eve.

After the events of the fourth season, it's the fall of 1987 and our group is on the mission to find and kill Vecna, the malevolent telepathic being from the Upside Down that has been terrorising the town since the first series.

We also see Eleven, played by Brown, at the forefront of the battle once again, only she's now also being hunted down by the military for her own psychokinetic and telepathic abilities.

Fans anticipate there will be a major twist of some kind as the season inches closer towards the finish line.

However, adding fuel to the fire is Noah Schnapp, better known as Will Byers in the show, who recently appeared to ruin the ending in an interview with TV Guide.

When asked who he felt is the most misunderstood character in the show, Schnapp said: "Lowkey Vecna."

"Really?" Brown responded.

"Because like..." Schnapp started to say.

"No! Shut up. That's it. No, be quiet," the 21-year-old said before he could spill the beans. "Carry on," she added to interviewer Kat Moon.

When Moon expanded on the question, asking how misunderstood they think Venca is by the end of season 4, Brown reached across to Schnapp to hold his hand as they shared a giggle.

"Based on season 4?" Brown asked. "You know, let's just not even because today has been a day.

"OK. It's been a day and we want to do so much for you but we're not smart enough to dance around these questions."

Laughing with Schanpp, she continued: "We're just not. We wish we were, but we're not."

"No energy left," Schnapp added, before hinting they were possibly 'walking into' dangerous territory.

Their suspicious behaviour to the question has had fans spiralling into conspiracy theories about the ending.

It also comes as the creators of the show, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, are said to have compared Vecna to Darth Vader, hinting at a potential Star Wars-style twist.

"Oh my god, does this mean Venca is Will's real dad?", penned one stunned viewer on X, formerly Twitter.

"Lol, Noah Schnapp getting shut down by Millie Bobby Brown is everything! Can't wait to see Vecna's story unfold, especially with that Darth Vader comparison. Bring on the redemption arc," said another.

"With the amount of people theorizing that Henry Creel/Vecna somehow impregnated Joyce Byers to create Will and Will being the one to defeat Vecna, it does feel like a Luke Skywalker discovering that Darth Vader is his father type of twist," chimed a third.

Well, all will be revealed on December 31 when the final episode of the finale lands on Netflix.

Stranger Things seasons one to the first volume of season 5 are available to stream now.
