Griselda Blanco's son calls out 'disrespectful' Sofia Vergara as new Netflix series about drug queenpin drops

Griselda Blanco's son calls out 'disrespectful' Sofia Vergara as new Netflix series about drug queenpin drops

Michael Corleone Blanco is the only living son of drug queenpin Griselda Blanco.

The son of Griselda Blanco has hit out at Sofía Vergara for her recent portrayal of the Colombian ‘Cocaine Godmother’.

True-crime fans will be ecstatic to hear that a new, gritty show has landed on Netflix starring Modern Family actor Vergara, 51.

The miniseries is titled Griselda and serves as a story inspired by the life of ambitious Colombian drug queenpin Griselda Blanco.

The latter is notoriously known for creating one of the most profitable cartels in history.

Mum-of-one Vergara portrays the titular role of Griselda in the new show while Alberto Guerra stars as her third husband Darío Sepúlveda. If this biographical crime drama sounds like your thing, then you can watch the trailer below:

Critics have already given the show a high 87 percent rating on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer and fans are singing the six-part series’ praises across social media.

However, not everyone is impressed with Vergara’s newly released TV offering.

Griselda’s son, Michael Corleone Blanco, has recently gotten candid about the 'disrespectful' portrayal of his late mother.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, the 45-year-old claimed: “Sofía Vergara did not consult with any members of the Blanco family as a sign of respect or elicit family details in portraying my mother.

“When I learned of the Griselda project, my team reached out to Sofia’s camp and offered my consultation services.”

However, the Colombian alleged that Vergara’s team got back to him and said that there was ‘no room on the project’ to consult further.

Griselda’s only living son went on to say that he believed the Netflix creators were ‘disrespectful’ and that they put out the project for their ‘own commercial gain’.

“After the sit-down at the table, my lawyers formally sent a cease-and-desist letter to Netflix and Sofia’s camp,” Michael told the outlet.

“As of today, Netflix nor Sofia’s camp has made any attempt to reconcile.”

He added that he works in the entertainment industry and that his mother signed a ‘life-rights agreement’ with him before she died in 2012.

He said: “I am a businessman in the entertainment industry and comprehend the importance of motion pictures as I have a book to be released, based on the real story.”

All episodes of Griselda are streaming now on Netflix.
