Stephen King once recommended a Netflix mini-series fans say has the best jumpscare ever.
Not only that, but it's got a star-studded cast and a 93 percent Rotten Tomatoes score. How's that for a triple threat?
The King of Horror often shares his favorite TV picks online - and he was certainly impressed by this Netflix original.

It features Carla Gugino, who has recently been cast opposite Brad Pitt in the upcoming The Adventures of Cliff Booth movie.
Directed by Mindhunter's David Fincher and based on a script by Quentin Tarantino, it will see Pitt reprise his role as Booth from 2019's Once Upon a Time In Hollywood.
Anyway, she stars alongside You's Victoria Pedretti, Oculus' Kate Siegel and Twilight's Elizabeth Reaser in this binge-worthy thriller.

It follows the Crain family, who - during one fateful summer - move into a sprawling and eerie property with plans to renovate and sell it.
However, they're soon plagued by strange and terrifying occurrences. One night, tragedy forces them to flee, leaving deep emotional scars.
Years later, the now-adult siblings - Steven, Shirley, Theo, Luke, and Nell - are brought back together by another devastating event, forcing them to confront their fractured memories of the house and each other.
As past and present intertwine, the truth about what happened all those years ago is slowly revealed.

The series we're talking about is The Haunting of Hill House, based on the 1959 Shirley Jackson novel of the same name.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, King said of the show: "THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE, revised and remodeled by Mike Flanagan. I don't usually care for this kind of revisionism, but this is great. Close to a work of genius, really. I think Shirley Jackson would approve, but who knows for sure."
Flanagan is, of course, behind the 2025 adaptation of King's 2020 novella The Life of Chuck, as well as Netflix movie Gerald’s Game (which Gugino also starred in) and The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep.

The series racked up 93 percent from Rotten Tomatoes critics, as their consensus described it as 'an effective ghost story whose steadily mounting anticipation is just as satisfying as its chilling payoff'.
Elsewhere, fans claim the show has one of the best jumpscares ever.
Now don't worry, we won't go spoiling it here. But after watching the terrifying scene, one social media user admitted it made them 'scream out loud'.

The viewer went on to praise the way the scare came out of nowhere, saying: "Thing about jump scares is most of the time you can tell around when it's gonna happen so you can brace yourself. This gave no hint and it got me so bad I screamed and turned a little away while throwing up my arms in front of my face.
"I've never reacted like that to a movie or anything in my life lol. WTF?! Holy s**t is this an all time great jump scare or was it just one for me?"
Another viewer agreed it was a thrilling scare, writing: "The jump scare in Haunting of Hill House I would vote is still one of the best jump scares ever."
