Fans of a 'must-watch' Netflix series with perfect ratings say the show is 'unlike anything else' they remember seeing.

The streaming service is home to thousands of titles, but only a small percentage have been awarded a prestigious 100 per cent score by critics.

This particular series had viewers raving, but was sadly cancelled despite its critical acclaim.

Good news, though; the show is making a comeback, though not necessarily on Netflix - so if you start watching more, there'll be more to come...

The TV series in question follows Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), a regional wrestling promotion based in Louisville, Kentucky.

Once focused on its glory days as WWE's developmental territory, OVW is now struggling to stay afloat.

The gym's alumni include Brock Lesnar, The Miz, John Cena, Dave Bautista and Randy Orton, and has since fallen on hard times, despite the passion of wrestler Al Snow and a 'few diehard fans'.

To raise some money to keep the gym's doors open, Snow sells a majority stake to a bunch of local businessmen, which also includes radio personality Matt Jones.

To get it up off the ground, Snow only has the summer to complete his mission as he and his band of aspiring wrestlers struggle with their personal ambitions - and each other - while they attempt to band together and save this historic gym.

Directed by Greg Whiteley - the man behind Last Chance U and Cheer - the show in question is called Wrestlers.

Having debuted in September 2023, the show is made up of seven episodes.

Critics over on Rotten Tomatoes gave it a perfect 100 per cent, as critics described it 'a must-see for wrestling fans, and for those who've never seen a match in their lives.'

Fans rated it an impressive 94 per cent, as one said: "This series was unlike anything I can remember ever seeing... It kept my interest every moment, and it normally takes an action movie to do that." They added: "I absolutely loved this series."

A second said: "This show has so much heart and the people on the show are so compelling! Even non-wrestling fans will love Wrestlers."

A third agreed: "Amazing story-telling and characters! Must-watch TV!"

While the show was sadly cancelled, it was revealed this week that it is making a comeback.

On Thursday night (August 21), Snow confirmed during OVW Rise at the Hotpoint Davis Arena that filming on a new documentary series was officially underway.

He said: “You’d expect a crusty old veteran like me to be against a documentary series which completely exposes our business, but it’s the way the world is going, and for a promotion like ours it’s vital.

"These wrestlers need a way to break through, to create their own brand and build their profile. The first series was absolutely transformational in helping our young stars grow and achieve that notoriety, and it lifted everyone up simultaneously.”

On the impact of the show, he added: “We were selling out shows, receiving media headlines around the world, and ultimately, it showcased just how amazing some of our talent is.”

The upcoming series is not yet attached to a streamer, and there are no further details at this time. But fans now have something new to look forward to.

The first season of Wrestlers is streaming now on Netflix.
