Netflix series with rare 100% RT score renewed for second season after being binged for 40 million hours

Viewers binged the 'refreshing' drama in quick succession

A Netflix series binged for 40 million hours has been renewed for a second season.

Just days before the 2026 Winter Olympics kick off in Italy, the streaming giant confirmed a popular sports drama that debuted only weeks ago would be returning for another round.

The eight-parter racked up a flawless 100 per cent score over on Rotten Tomatoes, while its show runner has teased 'plenty more' action to come.

Sport romance dramas are having their moment - and we have the phenomenal success of HBO's Heated Rivalry to thank for that.

But the Canadian hockey series actually ranks below Netflix's own ice-skating series, Finding Her Edge.

The former scored a near-perfect 96 per cent RT score compared to the latter's 100 per cent.

On Wednesday (February 5), Netflix confirmed Finding Her Edge has been greenlit for another season, after it was binged for 40.4 million hours, according to FlixPatrol data.

Based on the YA novel of the same name by Jennifer Iacopelli, it follows three sisters as they attempt to save their family's struggling figure skating dynasty.

Madelyn Keys is 17-year-old Adriana Russo, the middle sister, who's dealing with pressure both on and off the rink.

Andriana is training for the World Championships with new partner Brayden (Cale Ambrozic), while still getting over her first love, Freddie (Olly Atkins).

However, complications arise off the skating rink as she and Brayden must pretend to be a couple to help the business stay afloat.

Fans admitted to binging the show in just a few hours, as one hailed it 'heartfelt and entertaining'.

"A refreshing and surprisingly gripping drama that proves figure skating can be just as intense and emotionally charged as any mainstream sport," a second concluded, as a third described Finding Her Edge as an 'easy but meaningful watch' with 'genuine characters'.

Many expressed a desire for a second season to see where plotlines might take the beloved characters.

And show runner Jeff Norton teased plenty of drama to come 'both on and off the ice,' telling Netflix Tudum: “I set out to make a show about love, featuring characters navigating a particularly difficult path in their lives and in their sport.

"It’s a true gift to be able to work with such a talented cast to extend these characters’ journeys in Season 2."

He added he is 'certain' viewers will be delighted as the show delves deeper into 'two two love triangles that anchor our show - the romantic one and the familial one'.

Author Iacopelli added she was 'over the moon' by the show's positive reception; the Netflix adaptation saw a spike in her original book sales, too.

“To see my book come to life and watch the world fall in love with my characters has been a dream come true, and now that dream gets to continue with a Season 2!" she told Netflix Tudum.

"I can’t wait for audiences to see what’s in store for Adriana, Brayden, Freddie, and the rest of Team Russo!”

A release window has not yet been confirmed for season two - but watch this space!
