Netflix viewers are currently 'glued' to a 10/10 mini-series that is based on a shocking true story.
While we await the release of Stranger Things season five later this year, many Netflix subscribes are looking for new things to watch on the streaming platform.
And while there is plenty to sink your teeth into, some fans are heading to a series that released on the popular streamer back in 2021.

Titled Maid, the show's synopsis reads: "After fleeing an abusive relationship, a young mother finds a job cleaning houses as she fights to provide for her child and build them a better future."
The mini-series follows the story of single mother Alex as she turned to housekeeping in a bid to create a better life for her daughter Maddy, but escaping her past is proving more difficult than she initially thought.
The mini-series is inspired by Stephanie Land's memoir Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive.

Despite its initially 2021 release, Maid is still being talked on forums across the web.
Speaking of the series, one fan on the Netflix Reddit forum explained: "So good! I’ve been glued to it for the past 24 hours. It’s so real and makes you really think of how hard it is to stay afloat. Highly recommend."
A second added: "I read the book! I thought it was perfectly cast-Margaret Qualley is amazing and her real mom Andie Mcdowell playing her mom was the best part."
While a third remarked: "My wife and I loved it! It was one of the first shows Netflix suggested to us."

Many have praised the show's makers for how they touch on sensitive topics, with Maid's creator and showrunner, Molly Smith Metzler, previously saying the team worked closely with the National Domestic Violence Program and its hotline while working on the project.

Speaking to IndieWire, Metzler said: "I’ve heard a lot of wonderful things about Maid, but the thing I’ve heard that just blew me away was that the hotline in their 25 years of being a hotline, they got the most calls in their whole history in the month that Maidpremiered.
"I think it affected a lot of people. Every day I get a note from someone, every day. It’s not even about like, 'I love the show,' it’s just about like, 'Hey, I didn’t know that that was emotional abuse. Thank you for giving it a name.' It is a very hard to define thing, so if we achieved that and people felt seen then that’s why we’re here."
