Being one of the top five films on Netflix is an illustrious title.

With Netflix being the biggest streamer in the world, it's arguable that being among the biggest films on Netflix makes those movies the biggest on the internet.

Unsurprisingly, as it honestly always should be, the number two spot is taken right now by a Tom Cruise action film.

Is it Mission Impossible? Top Gun: Maverick? Edge of Tomorrow?

Nope, it is the sequel to an oft-forgotten book adaptation starring Cruise, which has since gone on to be made into a wildly popular TV series.

The sequel didn’t do the same numbers as the original at the box office, but according to fans it is a ‘superior sequel’ that exceeds the quality of the original.

Check out the trailer and see what you make of it.

The film in question is Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.

The 2016 sequel to Jack Reacher saw Tom Cruise return to the role, made famous by the series of Lee Child books.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back sees Reacher in a race against time to prove the innocence of Major Susan Turner, played by co-star Cobie Smulders.

Joining the sequel in the top five is the original 2012 Jack Reacher, which sits at fifth in the US.

The role has been taken over since Cruise played it, with Alan Ritchson starring in the now beloved Reacher on Amazon Prime.

This addressed the biggest criticism of the film, with Jack Reacher supposed to be a massive intimidating character (which Alan Ritchson is) and Tom Cruise being, well... 5”7.

That doesn’t stop him in the film however, with fans loving the sequel.

One fan on IMDb said: “Excellent sequel to follow up the original. Storyline is good. Acting is good. Action is brilliant.

“Wonderful script writing in showing a softer side to Jack while still being able to maintain his intensity.

"Tom Cruise has always been a great actor and considering he is shorter in stature than the original he makes up for any shortcomings.”

Empire Magazine’s Jonathan Pile called the film a ‘superior sequel’.

Peter Travers, writing for Rolling Stone went on to say: “Critics were snotty in 2012 when Cruise first played Reacher, because the 5'7" actor is not the six-five, 250-pound bruiser of Lee Child's novels. Get over it.

"The admirably defiant star brings his own agility and quick wit to the role.”
