Netflix subscribers are saying a new mini-series is leaving them 'more horrified' with each passing episode.

With thousands of titles on the streaming service, sometimes it can be difficult to choose what to watch next. The platform is big on its true crime content, producing everything from hit TV dramas to tell-all documentary series.

But Netflix's latest offering has been branded 'crazy' by fans, as they watch in their millions.

The three-part series released on May 14 and has since racked up 21.7 million hours viewed, according to figures from Netflix Tudum. The documentary currently holds the second spot on the streamer's global most-watched TV chart, behind American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden.

It centers on married couple who committed a series of horrific murders in Gloucestershire, England between 1967 and 1987.

Titled Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story, the new TV programme uses unseen footage, police interrogations, and actual, eerie voice recordings from the guilty pair to re-tell their stomach-churning crimes.

Frederick ‘Fred’ West and his wife Rosemary ‘Rose’ West (née Letts) are confirmed to have murdered at least 12 young women between them.

These include Fred’s first wife, Catherine ‘Rena’ Costello, his eight-year-old step-daughter Charmaine, and his and Rose’s eldest daughter, Heather, 16.

The remains of nine girls were recovered from their ‘house of horror’ home at 25 Cromwell Street, Gloucester, and three further bodies were later found elsewhere.

Family of the victims also speak out on the new documentary, including Dezra Chambers, the sister of Alison Chambers, the West's 16-year-old live-in nanny.

Caroline Owens, who managed to escape after being abducted and sexually assaulted by the couple, also tells her story. Her brave reporting of the assault to police and testimony in court helped bring the pair to justice.

Those who have been tuning into the series have been sharing their thoughts on X, on X, formerly Twitter.

"This Fred and Rose West doc on Netflix is the most messed up thing I've watched in a while," one person declared, as a second agreed: "Fred & Rose West on Netflix is crazy."

A third wrote: "The Fred and Rose West Story got more horrifying with each episode," adding: "The fact that they murdered women and children for decades with little interference is disturbing enough, but the audacity of Rose thinking she could get away with it?"

Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story is streaming now on Netflix.
