Netflix subscribers are begging for a second season of a binge-worthy new drama that's soared up the TV charts.
Having released on Thursday (October 9), the eight-parter is currently the second most-watched TV series on the platform worldwide, below only Monster: The Ed Gein Story.
Viewers have been so gripped, they've admitted to binge-watching the entire thing in just one day. Others reckon it's one of the best new TV shows they've seen in a while.

Set in the early 1990s, the Netflix series follows Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer), a closeted gay teenager from Louisiana who impulsively enlists in the US Marines after his best friend Ray McAffey (Liam Oh) decides to join. His mom Barbara Cope (Vera Farmiga) struggles to come to terms with her son’s choices.
Cameron enters a gruelling 13-week-long boot camp, run by fiery commanding officer Sergeant Robert Sullivan (Max Parker), with two aims in mind; to prove himself, and hide who he really is.

The show is set just before the US military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, which, introduced in 1994, allowed gay service members to serve only if they kept their sexuality hidden.

So, Cameron experiences inner turmoil from his two conflicting worlds as he prepares for one of the most dangerous missions of his life.
The series in question is called Boots, based on former veteran Greg Cope White's memoir, The Pink Marine. The show has racked up an impressive 92 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating from critics.
FandomWire's Callie Hanna described it as a 'genuinely solid show' with 'powerful emotional moments ranging from haunting to heartfelt.'
Viewers rated it 87 percent but the majority appeared even more enthusiastic in their reviews.

"I binged all eight episodes in two days and I was blown away by the writing, acting ,performances...the heart, the depth, the storylines," a third wrote.
"This is a 10/10, a must-watch," they urged.
Somebody else commented: "Truly one of the best shows I've seen for a while. There is a real depth to the story."
While there's certainly demand for a second season, Netflix is yet to confirm a follow-up.

Heizer counts himself among those hoping for more, as he told Variety: "There are a lot of stories to tell, from more of Greg’s different experiences in the Marines to Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell to when it was repealed. I would do it for 10 seasons if they let us."
Here's to hoping!
