With Netflix always dropping new content on its streaming platform, it can be easy to miss a potential hidden gem.

The likes of Black Mirror, Stranger Things and Sex Education often dominate Netflix's top ten whenever a new series is out - but there's a show dating back to 2017 that people are still raving about.

People have labelled the series as being underrated and, for those of you who have never seen it, you'll be pleased to know there a three whole seasons for you to catch up on.

The show that people are talking about is Dark, which was the first German-speaking original series developed by the streamer.

The synopsis for season one reads: "When two children go missing in a small German town, its sinful past is exposed along with the double lives and fractured relationships that exist among four families as they search for the kids.

"The mystery-drama series introduces an intricate puzzle filled with twists that includes a web of curious characters, all of whom have a connection to the town's troubled history - whether they know it or not. The story includes supernatural elements that tie back to the same town in 1986."

Six years on from its debut, Netflix viewers are still raving about it.

Season 1 of Dark dropped in 2017.

One person said of the series on social media a few months ago: "Dark is, simply put, a must-watch!

"The third season features a satisfying conclusion that could be considered one of the best we have seen from this genre."

Meanwhile, as recently as yesterday (November 23), someone asked fellow Netflix users if Dark was worth a watch.

Urging them to give it a try, someone penned on Facebook: "I loved this show! You have to concentrate on it. If you play with your phone or walk away for a bit you will miss something and won't know what's going on.

"It's mind bending! I was totally hooked!"

Viewers say they were 'hooked' on Dark.

"Most brilliant show ever," said someone else on the same thread, while another hailed it as an 'underrated masterpiece'.

A fourth went on: "Honest review is the show is 100 out of 100."

Quite the statement.

And people's opinions are back up by Rotten Tomatoes reviews.

At the time of writing, Dark boasts an impressive 95 percent on its Tomatometer, as well as having a 94 percent audience score.

All three seasons of Dark are currently available to stream on Netflix, and it sounds like it could be the perfect weekend watch.
