Fans point out awkward detail after Kate Siegel shares her 'inspiration' for The Fall of the House of Usher character

Kate Siegel has been left a bit red-faced after fans spotted an awkward detail in one of her interviews.

The actor is best known for starring in Mike Flanagan's horror series on Netflix, with the most recent instalment landing on the streaming service in recent weeks.

Siegel stars as Camille in The Fall of the House of Usher, after having previously played different roles in the likes of The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass and Gerald's Game (all of which were created by Flanagan).

The Fall of the House of Usher has so far gone down a storm with viewers, and debuted with 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

The limited series’ synopsis reads: “To secure their fortune - and future - two ruthless siblings build a family dynasty that begins to crumble when their heirs mysteriously die, one by one."

While it's been highly acclaimed, it isn't for the faint hearted as one scene in particular received backlash for its brutality.

The series may be a horror, but Siegel's inspiration for her character of Camille is far from that and is actually based on a Disney character - and it's one you probably totally forgot about.

"Camille is entirely based on a character named Mirage from The Incredibles," she explained.

"When I was a little girl, she was like my Jessica Rabbit - like, I thought she was the most beautiful woman I could imagine.

"She's the one who tricks Mr. Incredible into being kidnapped."

Siegel, who currently boasts platinum blond Mirage-esque hair, added: "Once you've seen it, you can't unsee it.

"So sorry to spoil all of your childhood dreams, but Camille is just Mirage."

Siegel responded to her faux pas online.

But honing in on the stars' comments about being a 'little girl' when The Incredibles came out in 2004, it turns out Siegel was actually 22 at the time.

"Miss Kate ilysm but you were 22 when the incredibles came out," penned one person on X.

"Kate, i love you, but you were not a little girl when The Incredibles came out, sis," echoed another.

"I was your age, we were both 20yo."

A red-faced Siegel has since responded to people's comments.

In one tweet the 41-year-old said: "DOING THESE EPKS IS VERY AWKWARD. And sometimes I don’t always say exactly what I mean. I’m 41.

"But thank you all for doing the math and embarrassing me."

Continuing to take her faux pas in her stride, Siegel added in a separate post: "Also maybe I felt like I was still a little girl at 22? I dunno! stop looking at me!"

It's okay Kate, maths isn't my strong suit either.
