Jenna Ortega has broken silence on a member of the Wednesday cast who will not be returning for season two.

The show was one of Netflix’s biggest ever, dominating the charts upon its release.

If you live under a rock and weren’t aware, Wednesday is a retelling of the Addams Family story, focused on – you guessed it – Wednesday Addams.

Ortega is the lead in the show, and will be a producer for season two.

It will be returning for a second season next year at some point, with Netflix announcing that the second season was in production with a picture of the entire cast.

Within this picture, however, one actor in particular was noticeably missing.

Percy Hynes White, who appeared in the show’s first season as Xavier Thorpe, was a love interest of Wednesday’s and a major part of the show’s first instalment.

Two other characters who played smaller roles were also no longer in the cast for the second season, but Hynes White was the most surprising.

Ortega had yet to comment on this change to the cast, but in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, she finally broke her silence.

She said that losing Hynes White has been ‘a weird redirect, but we’re introducing so many different characters that I think it kind of will get lost.’

The star then went on to say that in season two Wednesday’s ‘world does feel slightly askew anyway’.

Whilst it has not been directly confirmed by Netflix or Hynes White, speculation linked Hynes White’s removal from the show to allegations surrounding the actor.

He would later address and deny these allegations, calling them a ‘campaign of misinformation’.

The actor would go on to say in a statement posted to Instagram: “The rumors are false.

"I can’t accept the portrayal of me as someone bigoted, or criminally negligent of people’s safety.

"These are the kind of baseless, harmful claims that can create mistrust toward victims.

“It’s very distressing to know that this misinformation has upset people.

“I’m really thankful for everyone who’s stood by me and helped share the facts.”

Upon the announcement of the cast for season two, which did not include Hynes White, he posted on Instagram: “I had so much fun working on this show.

“I can’t wait to watch season 2.

“Much Love <3”.

Season two will add Doctor Who's Billie Piper to the cast, with Catherine Zeta Jones and Luis Guzmán also being bumped up to series regular.
