The Last of Us' Pedro Pascal is reportedly in talks to star in Fantastic Four as Reed Richards.

John Krasinski may have had a cameo as Richards a.k.a. Mister Fantastic in the 2022 film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but Pedro Pascal is now at the centre of rumors surrounding which actor is set to take on the role in Marvel's upcoming Fantastic Four movie.

Pascal has starred in a plethora of hits, from The Last of Us to The Mandalorian and Games of Thrones, however he's not yet made it into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Originally, fans anticipated Krasinski may be the actor to take on the role of Richards in Marvel's Fantastic Four after his appearance in 2022's Doctor Strange sequel.

However, Krasinski quickly shot down any speculation, noting he was 'honored' to make a cameo appearance, but that was as far as him taking on the role of Mister Fantastic would go.

With Marvel facing diminishing box office returns and dramatically scaling back its output next year, a lot is resting on 2025's Fantastic Four film.

So, what's the latest update surrounding the casting of Reed Richards?

Well, sources told Deadline Pascal is 'in talks' to take on the role of the founding member and leader of the Fantastic Four.

The outlet says it has spoken to 'multiple sources close to the negotiations' who say the schedule for the movie is still being worked out - Pascal currently still tied up with Ridley Scott's Gladiator 2 and a second season of The Last of Us too.

No official casting announcement has officially been made, but that hasn't stopped the Marvel rumour mill from swirling, Deadline not the only one to report the news, but journalist Daniel Richtman on his Patreon account too.

It's fair to say, Marvel fans and Pascal fans alike are pretty excited about the actor being anticipated as taking on the role and entering the MCU, flocking to X in response to the news.

One user said: "If this is true, this will be the best casting ever."

"Pedro Pascal is the perfect fit for fantastic 4?????" another added.

A third commented: "Bang bang bang bang bang."

And a fourth wrote: "The casting team definitely did a good job."

While Pascal is seemingly on his way to becoming Mister Fantastic, other Marvel fans can't help but wonder who else may be joining him to take on the rest of the Fantastic Four.

UNILAD has contacted Marvel for comment.
