The Marvel fandom has long speculated that John Krasinski is set to star upcoming Fantastic Four movie, and now the actor has weighed in on the rumours.

The 43-year-old had a cameo as Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic, in the 2022 film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Krasinski's casting thrilled MCU fans and naturally they're now awaiting the actor's return, however they may not be pleased after hearing Krasinski's official response.

During the press tour for Jack Ryan season three, Krasinski effectively burst the bubble of Fantastic Four fans by confirming his Mister Fantastic cameo was just a one-off.

According to the A Quiet Place star, he only signed up for a cameo and not for the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot film as well.

“There aren’t any discussions at all, the only discussion I had was actually in the second-to-last week of Jack Ryan,” he told The Wrap.

We can hear the sound of hearts breaking right now.

“Kevin Feige called and said would you ever fly to LA and play in our sandbox for a day? I was honored to do it.

"I flew right from Budapest when we wrapped and went right to the Doctor Strange set.

“I’m a big fan of all those characters and that world, so to get to play in that sandbox for one day was a real thrill."

Casting for the Marvel Studios Fantastic Four reboot has yet to be announced although that hasn't stopped fans from speculating about who might play Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm, Human Torch and The Thing.

Ironically, actress and Krasinski's real-life wife Emily Blunt was rumoured to be in the running to play Sue Storm, also known as The Invisible Woman, and she also spoke about the hotly anticipated film.

In what will probably be another blow to Marvel followers, the 39-year-old clarified that she is not currently involved in the film, but is 'touched' by fans thinking she'd be perfect for the role.

Speaking to Extra, Blunt admitted: “I don’t know, I don’t know! I’m always very touched by the fan casting. I think that’s cool.

"Well, I know nothing! I never know how to answer these questions… No one has approached me about the Invisible Woman so we’ll just leave it as that."

Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four film will be released 14 February 2025.
