Marvel has dropped the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, featuring Chris Evans as the one and only Captain America.

While there is still a lot that we don't know regarding the plot of the upcoming Avengers movie, what we do know is Chris Evans is set to reprise his role as Steve Rodgers, the former Captain America.

How do we know? Well, some fans have been speculating he would return following the revelaiton that Robert Downey Jr would be returning, not as Iron Man this time, but Fantastic Four villain Dr Doom.

But beyond this guessing work fans have been doing for years, it has now been confirmed by Marvel Studios themselves with the release of a new teaser trailer.

The trailer doesn't give much away, it shows Rodgers driving along a dirt road on a motorcycle before parking up in front of a house.

He enters and the camera shows him putting down his Captain America outfit before panning up to his smiling face. It also shows holding a baby in his arms, presumably his newborn child he likely would have had with his love interest, Peggy Carter, played by Hayley Atwell.

While the trailer does confirm Rodgers will return, it isn't clear what universe this Steve Rodgers is set in, or whether he will only have a small cameo in the upcoming movie or a larger role.

Fans will have to wait until December 18, 2026, for the next instalment in the cult classic.
