Fans of the Scary Movie franchise have reacted with joy to the first trailer for the upcoming sixth instalment in the film series that mixes horror, comedy, pop culture, and satire.
This first trailer dropped March 2 and lefts viewers in stitches, though it also left little doubt that the movie's jokes will probably cause no small amount of controversy.
Set for release June 12, 2026, Scary Movie 6 is set to reboot the horror franchise, while also rebooting four characters familiar to anyone who has even seen a clip from the first films.
Anna Faris will be reprising her role as Cindy Campbell, while Regina Hall and Marlon Wayans are back as Brenda and Shorty Meeks. Shawn Wayans, of course, will be returning as Ray Wilkins.

After watching the new trailer, fans were buzzing to see the new take on the cult series in cinemas. One was so excited they enthused: "I think this is going to be the most offensive and hilarious movie of the decade."
Another shared their excitement at seeing the original cast return, adding: "I CAN’T GET OVER THE FACT THAT BRENDA AND CINDY ARE BACK."
The trailer itself shows what direction writers Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans are taking the franchise, with the first joke involving a 'woman' being stabbed and then telling someone off for assuming her pronouns.
Whether the whole film will just be woke jokes about pronouns remains to be seen however, though the trailer does promise that 'every line will be crossed' in the new instalment.

Just remember, while everyone is calling it Scary Movie 6, following a 13 year hiatus from the last film, they're simply calling this one Scary Movie. But whether everyone else calls it this depends on if it meets the high bar of the first film.
The series is most well known for spoofing popular horror films and this time will be no different, with some old favorites also making a return. Fans can expect parodies of recent hits like Get Out, the Terrifier films, Megan, Wednesday, and of course, the Scream movies.
But whether it will live up to the cult-status of the first three Scary Movies, which are endlessly quotable ('Wazzup!'), or flop horrendously like Scary Movie 5, fans only have to wait three and a half more months to find out.
